RIDIN HY’S MID-WEEK ACTIVITIES SCHEDULE
Your week begins Sunday afternoon with a scenic horseback ride through our Adirondack mountain trails. In the afternoon enjoy a leisurely pontoon boat ride across Sherman Lake followed by cocktails in the lounge during happy hour. Enjoy your hot home made dinner while sitting lakeside in our dining room. BINGO begins soon feel free to get acquainted with our other guests and who knows…you might win! Relax in one of our oversized lounge chairs while watching a movie followed by a fireside pizza party.
Monday has never been this good! Enjoy the fresh mountain air as your day begins with a country breakfast. Go ahead and order the Western with Cheese, you won’t be disappointed! Finish your coffee and head down to the barn for your 2 hour trail ride. Experience the Adirondacks like never before…on horseback. Ride alongside the Schroon River, over the top of Overlook Mountain, and through the bounty of pine trees.
We’ve been feeding the fish all summer and now the pike are really biting. Hop on board our pontoon boat for a fishing trip. We supply the poles, bait and the stories. Our social director will have you back in time for lunch and if you catch a big enough fish Tony our cook will even prepare it for you. Spend your afternoon shooting baskets, playing tennis, throwing horseshoes or lounging on a hammock.
Join us in the main lodge for a complementary glass of wine and some snacks before dinner at our Wine and Cheese Party. Following dinner you’ll get to try your luck at BINGO and the bartender might even let you pick out the movie for the night; unless, you’d rather watch Monday Night Football. We’ll have nachos with cheese ready for your enjoyment before bed.
RISE AND SHINE!! Begin your Tuesday morning with a steaming cup of coffee while reading the local newspaper. Not up for a morning in the saddle, but still want to be out in the fresh air surrounded by the fall foliage? We recommend a hike to the Castle followed by a horse drawn wagon ride over the dirt road. After enjoying lunch, spend the afternoon swimming in our heated indoor pool or soaking in the hot tub with the drink of the day in your hand. The horseback riding schedule is at your leisure if you wish to take an afternoon trail ride. Please join us in the cocktail lounge for happy hour and snacks before dinner. Watch the sunset on board our Pontoon boat ride or from an Adirondack rocking chair on your deck. Make your way back to the lodge for a movie followed by our square pizza party.
Wednesday begins with a deep breath of fresh air as you enjoy the brisk mountain air. Enjoy your breakfast while surrounded by Sherman Lake and views of Cat Mountain. A 2-hour morning horseback ride is sure to get your blood flowing and your excitement overflowing now that you are on vacation. Our experience trail guides are sure to entertain and teach you about our beautiful and well trained horses. Schedule a Swedish massage with our certified masseuse or soak in our heated indoor pool and hot tub. After a hearty lunch and some mingling with the other guests, join our social director in a game of softball or sign up for a horseshoe tournament. No sign-up necessary for the country hay ride pulled by our tractor. The hay ride is a special way to view the fall foliage, if you are lucky maybe you’ll spot some deer, squirrels, and turkeys’.
Dinner is our famous Steak Fry cookout. The meal begins with homemade soup and a salad followed by a cook to order steak dinner garnished with all your favorites. If you would like, bring your dessert and coffee on board our pontoon boat ride while viewing the fall foliage as the sun begins to set. Try your luck at BINGO, you could win the “pot” or a prize. Enjoy a peaceful evening rocking in your Adirondack chair from your deck or come inside the main lodge to watch an old Western movie while sitting in one of our oversized lounge chairs. On your way to bed stop by the fireplace for a fire grilled hot dog from the hot dog roast.
Treat yourself on Thursday morning to a breakfast of steak and eggs. Enjoy casual chit chat with new friends around the coffee station while planning out your day. Horseback riding is available throughout the day. Whether you are an experienced rider or a novice our knowledgeable trail guides will be able to determine what level ride is for you. Stop by the front desk and inquire about availability for paint ball. After enjoying a hot lunch head back to the corral and get signed up for the guest rodeo. Test your horsemanship while barrel racing and ribbon racing.
If you are looking to truly enjoy the fall season take a guided hike on one of the many hiking trails the ranch has to offer. The Adirondack Mountains’ are in peek season this time of year. We invite you to take advantage of this beautiful opportunity that nature has to offer. Another way to see the foliage is on a pontoon boat ride. Bring your family and your camera, cruise along the shores of Sherman Lake. The boat dock’s back at the ranch just in time for the cocktail party. Enjoy a margarita or rum punch while enjoying in the solitude of your surroundings. After dinner you are invited for a fun game of BINGO. Try to learn our Bingo Lingo as Hoffy calls out your winning number. Pull up a seat next to the stone fireplace and enjoy a book or just sit and watch the fire. There is no rush, no place to be other than at Ridin’-Hy enjoying in the company of friends and family. Enjoy a movie together or just relax with a piece of ranch square pizza before bed.
FALL COUNTRY WEEKENDS
Welcome to Ridin’-Hy Ranch! Check-in after 1:00pm and enjoy a Scenic Horseback Ride alongside one of our many trails. Before dinner meet other guests at Happy Hour followed by Dinner (home-made soup, tossed salad, fried seafood platter, chicken cordon bleu, or baked Virginia ham, apple pie a la mode, plus puddings.) Plus, we can always make a grilled cheese, PB &J or hot dog for those picky eaters.
After dinner head down to the Rodeo (season ends 10/9/09). Watch the cowboys and cowgirls rope & ride. Afterward, head back to the lodge for a chance to meet your favorite rodeo contestant. Try your line dancing skills with our Live Band, “City Limits.”
Don’t send the kids to bed quite yet- Children’s hot potato game is next, everyone wins!
And who can resist a late night snack…stop by our fireside Hot Dog Roast.

Wake up and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Your day begins on Saturday with a full Country Breakfast…try our western omelet and the best bacon ever! Horseback Riding is available all day as well as Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball, Shuffle board, Horseshoes and Archery.
Before lunch get your exercise with a Hike to the “Castle.” And don’t forget about our Heated Indoor Pool and Hot Tub.
If you are looking for more of a leisurely activity, hop on board our Pontoon Boat. Our captain will take you for a Scenic Boat Ride over Sherman Lake. Or if you prefer being your own captain, paddle along our shores with a Paddle Boat or Row Boat.
Saturday afternoon stop by the Wine and Cheese Party. Adults can indulge in a glass of wine before dinner and kids just love the pizza bites. However don’t fill up too much- Ridin Hy’s famous Saturday Night Smorgasbord is lining up. All you can eat homemade bread, salads, roast beef, roast turkey, baked ziti, deviled eggs, spare ribs, baked beans, cauliflower au gratin, cheesecake, fruit, pumpkin pie, and double chocolate cake.
After dinner make your way into the cocktail lounge for a Ridin’-Hy game of BINGO! Try your luck and learn our Bingo Lingo. Have a nice night listening to our Live Country Band and enjoying in the company of friends & family.
RISE AND SHINE
Breakfast time! We will treat you to a Texas Style Breakfast with all the fixin’s-steak and eggs, homefries and sausage plus a full menu. Please enjoy our coffee station with warm coffee cake available all day. After your morning Horseback Ride climb on the hay wagon for a Scenic Hayride over the mountain and thru the woods. Upon arrival back at the lodge we’ll have Hot Homemade Donuts and Warm Apple Cider ready for your taking.
We hope you can stay for lunch and enjoy our lunch menu (southern baked chicken with rice pilaf or a ham club sandwich both served with french fries and for dessert try our FAMOUS Adirondack Apple Crisp served warm with vanilla ice cream.)
