Winter Activities

WINTER COUNTRY WEEKENDS

Your Adirondack winter vacation begins as soon as you check in. A scenic horseback ride through the snow covered pines is a wonderful way to begin your winter wonderland vacation.

Next, head down to the ski lodge and meet Jeff and the rest of our ski patrol staff who will gladly fit you in your personal downhill ski equipment. Whether you are an avid skier or beginner our ski instructors are always ready to give you a ski lesson. Our lift operators will guide you on the T-bar lift to the top of our groomed ski mountain.

You might wonder where all the shouts of laughter are coming from. Grab your cup of hot chocolate and head out to the snow tubing mountain. Race your friends and family to the bottom and try not to fall off.

Wave goodbye to the other guests as you ride past them on your guided snowmobile ride. This ride is for those more adventurous of vacationers. Our snowmobile guides will take you on well-groomed trails that stretch over the Adirondack Mountains. You’ll ride to the top of Overlook Mountain, alongside the iced capped Schroon River and over a raging waterfall. If you are lucky you may spot a snow shoe rabbit or some deer.

Warm up back in the main lodge with another hot chocolate or join the other guests at the bar for Happy Hour. This is a great opportunity to meet other guests and mingle with your guides.

Enjoy a home-cooked hot dinner with our homemade soup and a salad followed by your choice of Fried Seafood, Chicken Cordon Bleu or Baked Virginia Ham. The meal is not finished until you’ve tried our Home-made Apple Pie a La Mode or maybe a dish of pudding.

There is so much to do at Ridin’-Hy! BINGO is always a laugh. Learn the “Bingo Lingo” with our social director Hoffy as he shouts out the lucky balls.

The ranch band, “City Limits,” will get you up off your feet and dancing to rock n’ roll and country & western. Watch as the cowgirls line dance and the couples slow dance.

Before calling it a night, stop by our hot dog roast. We hand roast each hot dog over our wood fire. Go to bed with a full stomach and anticipation for Saturday.

GOOD MORNING!

Rise and shine to a hot cup of coffee and our signature Ridin’-Hy Western omelet. After breakfast it’s time to hit the slopes. While you are visiting at the ski lodge try your skills at cross country skiing. There are numerous trails to explore. This is a wonderful way to experience winter in the Adirondacks or to burn off breakfast calories. Also, we have ice skates available in all sizes for our ice skating rink. Play ice hockey or just figure 8 around the rink. Snowmobile tours are available throughout the day as are the horseback rides.

Are your muscles feeling sore and achy from all the winter activities? Have a swim in the indoor pool or just relax in the hot tub. We also have a certified massage therapist available for Swedish Massage, just make your appointment with someone at the front desk.

After a big lunch join us out on the lake for an afternoon of ice fishing. We’ll drill the holes and even stay and check your tip-ups while you catch a ride on our horse drawn sleigh around the ranch.

Our wrangler will have you back at the lodge in time for the wine and cheese party. Enjoy a glass of wine and some pizza bites before our famous Smorgasbord Dinner Buffet. Dinner tonight is at your leisure with a buffet filled with home made bread, salads, roast beef, roast turkey, baked ziti, deviled eggs, spare ribs, baked beans, cauliflower au gratin, cheesecake, fruit pies and cakes.

Have fun at Bingo, maybe you will win the pot tonight. If not, at least you’re lucky enough to be at Ridin’-Hy. Listen to our live band while enjoying in the company of family and meeting new friends.

HAPPY TRAILS

Awaken Sunday morning to a peaceful, snow covered winter wilderness. After breakfast enjoy a horseback ride or maybe a snowmobile ride. Take a ski down the ski slope or a slide down the tubing hill. Warm up inside the main lodge with flavored coffee and enjoy a home made donut. We hope you can stay for lunch, especially for dessert…home made apple crisp served warm with vanilla ice cream. You’re welcome to stay and enjoy the afternoon activities.

Thank you for spending your weekend with us. We realize how busy all of you are and that there are many choices when it comes to vacation “get-aways.”

Have a save trip home and see you soon!
